The camping was good, no fish in the stream where you pay to camp and fish for trout.. the dnr stocked the stream where you can fish for free! Below the low gap campground.. this was the weekend of labor day 2022.. we camped for 3 days , caught no fish because they didn't stock where you pay to camp, they stocked below the campground! I will NEVER pay to camp there again.

This a quite and restful campground off the beaten path with many camping spots next to Low Gap Creek. Note, they have removed bear boxes, trash cans and there is no longer a camp host. So, pack it in and pack it out is the moto here, please plan accordingly! Also, the chemical toilets were locked on our last visit in September 2017, I am unsure if this is permanent or was temporary as we visited shortly after Hurricane Irma passed through.

This is a quiet, Serene and beautiful place that is great for fishing , hiking, sightseeing, and relaxation. Family friendly. Outhouse type bathroom with primitive camping..bring your generator! Well off the beaten path! 1.5 miles up a bumpy dirt rd by the river!

I love this place! I came here with my family as a child and we recently took a camping trip here after not coming for many years and it was just as wonderful as I remembered! We got a good spot to camp in and took advantage of the river and were able to catch a bunch of trout! The only thing is I wish that the well pump had not been out of order, it makes washing hands and dishes easier, but the river is right there and an easy access to water as well. Gorgeous views and a relaxing weekend.

Nice campground, but water wasn't working. Good fishing. Can get loud on weekends. Watch for bears. Address in Google maps is incorrect. This on Chattahoochee river road 5-6 miles from Helen.

My son and I have always loved camping and trout fishing at Low Gap. However; the last time we went, there were no "camp hosts" and the place had not been kept well. The restrooms weren't serviced or usable and there was trash everywhere. Hopefully that has been remedied by now because we're hoping to return in the Spring.

Too bad that entering the address from the national forest recreation website on Google maps or using the google listing (which is how we chose this place) sends you to a private cabin community no where near the place pictured in this google result. If you are looking for this place enter CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER ROAD HELEN GA and go from there use the national forest website's turn by turn directions out of Helen.

Campground looked in good order. Forest Service has removed trashcans which they should put back. I have been going there since before it was an actual campground. Its a good place to take children. The roads are in good shape right now so kudos to USFS for that.

Such a nice place to spend the weekend. Easy access to the river for fishing and BBQ. Probably good for families with small kids.
